Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 327

Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 327
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Higher West Deposit of Corridor
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   327
Date:   2014/05/17
Stratum:   About 40-50% inclusions, primarily coarse pebbles, sub-rounded, small chunks of tile
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   While excavating context 313, a layer of fill covering the corridor space between Unit 2 and the N wall of the church, a patch of lighter, less inclusion-rich fill appeared to be laid on the unexcavated surface below. We removed this fill as Context 327. It did, indeed, appear to sit on top of the surface, but the matrix, which was pebbly with few sherds, did not immediately hint at any potential reason for the deposition (e.g., rubbish dump, as too little rubbish was found). Perhaps this matrix is simply part of the 'working surface' of the corridor.
