Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 404

Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 404
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Small lens of fill, Corridor
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   404
Date:   2014/05/23
Stratum:   around 50-60% inclusions (fine pebbles, coarse pebbles, angular cobbles), some clay
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are removing a thin lens of pebbly fill from beneath Context 388, which lay under the removed wall stub Context 380. As we remove it, we are coming down on a line of rough limestone stones that align with another small line of stones we have noticed since excavating Context 274, a pit in Room 7. Perhaps this is a wall abutting or abutted by Wall 157, forming a boundary between Room 7 and the corridor. The relationship between this space and the fills immediately to the S remain unclear at this time.
