Title:   Pit under tile floor in unit 2 room A
Notebook:   1108
Context:   418
Date:   2014/06/03
Description:   The context shape in plan is circular. The top break of the cut is gradual. The sides of the cut are convex. The break at the base of the cut is gradual. The base of the cut is tapered point.
Notes:   Larkin Kennedy: This cut in Room A probably cut through the tile floor and the was wider/higher up than is recorded here, but the top of the cut was not observed. It is the southernmost and eastmost of the two higher pit cuts visible when the plaster skimming below the tiles (419) has been exposed. The contents (417) were very ash and were sieved through the water sieve at 100%. The east-most edge of the pit extends past the area sectioned by the tile floor.
Later notes, Jody:
It is unclear whether this pit may have cut from a higher elevation than the one recorded here. The photographs in NB867 p.64 show that the floor tiles are disturbed in the area directly above the fill of this pit 417. The pit was not visible, however, prior to the excavation of the levelling fill 409.
