Notes:   This is the tile capping over the child's grave that is covered with fill 444. At least two of the tiles appear to be almost completely intact, so we measured one of these to a serve as the paradigm for our "Dimensions" field. The earth beneath the tiles appears to be very soft and filled with a variety of organic matter. We are switching to Context 454 for the recording and description of this fill. There is no soil data to record for the excavation of this structure because it is composed soley of tile. There was a ca. 2.3 cm. pocket of air between the bottom of the tiles (444) and the top of the next fill (454), which is a fill marked by heavy disturbance and biotubation, which the pocket of air surely assisted and encouraged. Though theve below had a partial cist lining, the tiles do not appear to have been resting on them. See Excavation Notes for Deposit Context 459.
Complete pan tile measurements: 0.46 x 0.25 x 0.02
