Description:   The soil color is dark greenish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Pit fill 479 is the fill of a pit cut through the tile floor in unit 2 room A. This deposit is the fill directly below the circular stone feature. Excavation of this fill produced several large sherds of pottery. A sample was taken for water sieving because of the presence of charcoal fragments. As Thanassis excavated the fill the N and W edges of the pit were clear, but the S and E edges appeared to be opening into a lozenge shape. It became clear that 479 is actually the fill of a much larger pit so we close the basket in order to clean the top of the pit fill and detrmine the boundaries of the pit.
