Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes: | This is the remains of a pit associated with a furnace, excavated in 1991 (NB 834 B 106, 113, 114, 119). The pit was underdug when it was excavated and thus we had to remove the last vestiges of this furnace, made clear from 20 years of erosion. It should be noted that, although the pottery from the small lens that we dug dated the context to the Frankish period, the excavators dated it to the Turkish period, as it had been cut in from Turkish levels and therefore the dating of our context likely represents redeposited Frankish fill. Animal bones, 0.5 kg, thrown.
