Notebook:   1108
Context:   589
Date:   2014/06/20
Stratum:   40% small-medium angular and sub-rounded pebbles, ceramic sherds, bone
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   This is the fill of the foundation trench dug for wall 589, the western boundary of Room 2, Unit 2. It is important to note that this foundation trench was not dug in its entirety; rather, only the northern half was dug. This is due to the fact that we had not fully taken off the floor overlaying the surface into which the foundation trench had been cut (577). Therefore, 577 was still overlaying the foundation trench in the south west portion of the room (see notes for context 577) and there was not enough time at the end of the last day of the 2014 season to remove the remaining bit of 557.
It should be noted that the foundation trench for wall 559 and the foundation trench for wall 557 were both overlain by surface 577, suggesting a roughly contemporary date for the creating of this room. It should also be noted that we uncovered the foundation trench, but it is disturbed by the later robbing activity, which robbed out theentirety of the wall along out excavated portion. Therefore, determining how wide the trench was and its exact relationship with wall 559 will need to wait until the southern half of it is excavated.
