Lot:   Lot 2015-002
Stratum:   Inclusions all angular: with small ceramics, glass (including tesserae), small worked marble pieces, some charcoal, tile fragments, coarse pebbles. Total inclusions 40%; most inclusions are medium sized with some larger tile pieces up to 0.1 m long.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   It is unclear if this is an uneven filoor or a result of powerwashing and walking over the area for the restoration of walls 556 and 557. The surface is uneven and slopes up gently to the East. Cut coins were found in the sieve as well as a whole coin (coin 9, 10, and 11).
Note on the reconstruction: Since the 2014 excavation in Room 2, Walls 556, 557, 558, 559 have been reconstructed. The reconstruction of these walls required a construction trench c. 20 cm wide on the inside of the walls around the room. A lip of concrete formed at the base of these trenches and at the bottom of the previously excavated pits; although the construction trenches did go deeper as seen in the geotextiles present under wall 5556 in the profile of context 620. The construction trenches for walls 556 and 557 were encountered or bordered many contexts in the 2015 excavations.
Later note: Coin 10 is a pendant (now MF-2015-3).
