Title: | Red earth fill in North of Room 2
Category: | Deposit | |
Notebook: | 1109 | |
Context: | 614 | |
Date: | 2015/04/23 | |
Stratum: | small subrounded pebbbles, tile pieces (small). Inclusions 15%.
Description: | The soil color is dark brownish red. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes: | The earthen fill has relatively few inclusions and seems to be a leveling deposit over a floor that slopes to the South (and is not present in the South part of the context). The fill is relatively homogeneous between the eastern and western portion sand seems to have been deposited at one time. Pick was used in the southern portion of the context, wehre deeper, and the trowel only (no pick) in the northern portion. In the southern portion of the context, the floor is not present and instead a very rocky deposit is encountered, which is the same as the rocky deposit at the bottom of the eastern portion of 608 and encountered in the SE of context.
