Description:		Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is weakly cemented. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:		Opening Elevation E: 122.773 N: 1076.800 Z: 84.758 This context is perhaps a second pass on the mottled layer (= context 613) excavated earlier in the morning, which now remains only on the western half of the trench. Like 613 was, this context is mottled especially with tile and brick deposited probably in order to raise the floor surface level..The workmen started digging the context, but it will need to be finished tomorrow. END 2014.04.23 WAB We came down upon quite a bit of charcoal/carbon this morning at the western end of the trench. We first noticed a lot of carbon under context 597, but now that charcoal-filled soil seems to have expanded to the norther of Grave 2014-08. Combined with the many faunal remains recovered, this concentration of charcoal probably indicates that this fill was a rubbish deposit. The workmen have finished the second pass and want to take a third, which will be sieved and compared to the finds of the second. 3/06/2015 (L. Kennedy, R.
