This is a stony, "chaotic" (using Guy's terminology) fill to the north and east of Grave 2014-09. The boundary is clearly seen in the northern and western parts of the context area, but becomes much less so in the east. It is possible that it runs all the way to the wall, even though the workmen do not think it does at the surface. I even thought it could be part of the same mottled fill as context 613 (first pass). The workmen left the area alone as we moved from east to west, though, and clearly think it is something different. The soil is the same, however. It merely has a few large stones and more tile and brick in it. But tile and brick were brought up in quantities in the later passes of the mottled fill in the western half of the trench as well.
Along the northern edge of the grave towards the east, it was much deeper than I expected. This area contained large stones that may have originally been part of the lining of either Grave 2014-09 or 2015-1. Otherwise, the fill was quite jumbled, never flattened. It perhaps resulted from partial wall collapse from the northern wall of the nave (Wall 20).
