Description: | The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty clay. Structure materials: conglomerate. Material size: 1 block,L. 0.596, W. 0.510, H. 0.157. Material finish: roughly hewn, squared; tooled surface. Material bonding: some bedding, but no morta. Features: square cutting for door jamb partially preserved.
Notes: | Originally (1996) thought to have been used as a step up to a doorway. The threshold block does seem to be a reused blovk, but it isi unclear if it was positioned by a doorway. The block is incomplete and the wall seems to have been at a higher elevation still. The block was associated with a floor (Context 634/628) and some tiles, which were removed with the block. Its function and the location of the doorway for room 9 remains unclear. Photo: 485-492 02/06/2015 (L Kennedy): Animal bones: 0.02 kg, all thrown.
