Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 66
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 66
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Cleaning of courtyard
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   66
Date:   2014/04/11
Stratum:   20% medium to small angular pebbles, ceramics
Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is mixed. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   In order to further explore the water feature revealed by Deposit 41, we have decided to move into the courtyard. This will allow us to follow the water channel which may continue to one of the previously excavated bothroi (NB 880). To begin we have decided to take a cleaning layer throughout the courtyard as this was the major path of foot traffic for the excavation from the museum to Pietri for ceramic reading. This had resulted in many contours and foot paths within the courtyard.
Soil mixed: dark greyish brown and dark reddish brown.
Finds collected include a metal bell
14/4/14:
We are continuing the cleaning of the courtyard. It rained last night so the soil today is slightly wet. We have fully cleaned the courtyard in the east half. In the west there is some harder soil which will be removed as a separate cleaning context (Deposit 79). Also exposed was the boundaries of the pit filled with stones. We will remove it as a separate contex as well (Deposit 78).
15/4/14:
Along the reconstructed walls of Unit 2 and Unit 1, there are narrow trenches that were dug for the reconstruction. Within them are debris from this project.
