Context:   710
Date:   2015/05/08
Stratum:   inclusions: 5-10% Pottery, Bone, Tile, some Lime and Charcoal, Brick
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is light brown. The soil compaction is weakly cemented. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Excavated by W. Bennett. Kostas is making the first (S --> N) pass on a hard, brownish, clayey layer. The top of this context had many small stone inclusions on the surface. Kostas feels that it extends all the way to the N wall of the church.
Kostas finished the first pass and began a second. Working in the foundation trench (?) he partially removed yesterday, he removed a thin layer and quickly confirmed that there is a strip of different soil running along the N wall of the church. The soil is darker and softer than the adjacent soil (which lies under 710). Kostas will remove the rest of 710 before we investigate this darker strip.
