Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   742 is a very thin strip of darker, softer soil partially overlaying the foundations for wall 20 and immediately to the north of them. It had very little material in it - only 2 sherds and very few bones. It is probably the same matrix as 743, just cut out and filled back in. It was dug in the morning before I was able to examine it. 742 was not deep enough to really be a foundation trench for the foundations of wall 20.
