Title:   Compact Brown Surface Around Central Pit
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1109
Context:   778
Date:   2015/05/18
Stratum:   10% Sub Rounded Spherical, Medium Pebbles, scarce fragments of bone and pottery. Bits of charcoal (a fair amount).
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is light brownish yellow. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   (KTT) We began removing this surface, which had been uncovered around most of the edges of the of the pit made by cut 777. The surface has been quite well defined around the E and S edges of the pit and extends to the walls of the Room. This surface becomes less well defined, however, in the NW quadrant of the Room.
However, in discussion with Guy, we are bisecting the room into a N ans S half and only diggin out this surface in the NE corner.
The white surface found in other rooms is being revealed under this context.
The amounts of pottery and bone coming from this context are significantly less than the pits, perhaps we should consider this a man made surface, but we should compare the amounts with other fills not from the pits.
We should also note that we are using the sieved soi of this context to backfill the pit created by cut 763. We have revealed the white layer to the NE edge of room # and are now revealing it as we move S.
Though the context is the same, Panos wished to change contexts moving forward/South. This new context is 780 (778= 780).
