Title:   Soft Patch, East Room 6
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1109
Context:   869
Date:   2015/06/12
Stratum:   bone, pebbles, little pottery.
Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Small patch of softly packed soil, come down upon during pass 868 above. Possibly the fill of a cut into the surface beneath 868. Removal of the fill, and cleaning of scarp surrounding, reveals a number of human bones, suggesting the presence of a tomb. The fill and cut come up to the robbing trench of Wall 59.

Human bones: left and right humerus, and rigth ulna and radious and some ribs. While digging these elements were noted as eroding out of the existing scarp and were associated with the remains of a cover-tile from a presumed grave, later excavated as grave 2015-13. These human remains were therefore joined with bone lot 2015-20.
Animal bones: sheep/goat and bovid (1.9 kg), all thrown.
LN 25/6/15 PJK: On the basis of stratigraphy, the cut must date to the 14th century; the fill, however, dates narrowly to around 1270, and must come from an earlier deposit.
