Stratum:		Around 30% total: bone (human and animal), pottery, tile. Very small fragments of all.
Description:		Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:		This grave (1997-13C) was the westernmost in a series of burials placed in an E-W trench in the middle of Room 4/D (see NB 895: 83-6). While the skeleton was completely removed at that time, the bottom of the grave was not cleaned out to the cut, as can be seen by the fact that the tiles and stones that had underlain the skull are still in place in 2015. Prior to resuming work in the area in 2015, this grave was cleaned in order to determine if another, deeper burial was present. It was very quickly determined that only a small skin of dirt had been left in this grave along with the bedding tiles for the head, and the dirt underlying this context was not excavated further this season. At least 1 human molar was recovered from this context, and it will be examined with reference to BL 1997-13 from this grave to see if it will be possible to join this material with that of previous analyses. As this area had been left exposed for almost 20 years, however, it seems likely that this material may also represent pottery, tile and bone from the wider expanse of Room 4/D.
