Stratum:   This soil includes fine subangular and tabular pebbles, medium, tabular subangular pebbles, and small ceramic and stone tile fragments
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context is a fill layuer under subfloors 912 and 913. It extends across the maority of the transept around the altar base (Str. 931) and a small portion of the apse. The level in the apse was previously excavated in 1990. This level continues to the west between structures 920 and 928 (SW and SE piers), but the at portion is being excavated as a separate context (987) due to the the difference in location of the church. The transept threshold (Str. 924) overalaid the western edge of this context. This section is cut by the foundation fill (Context 948, Cut 949) for the altar base (Str. 931) as well as the robbing trench (Context 953, 955, Cut 954). Both this section and section 987 were cut by cut 919, filled by 918.
