Description:   Neck-handled amphora with vertical ring foot, flat resting surface, slightly convex undersurface, ovoid body with max. diam. above the median of the body, cylindrical neck flaring out to echinus-shaped rim with rounded lip; twisted handles attached to shoulder and neck at two thirds of its height. Profile similar, but not identical, to CP 860 (Corinth VII.1, p. 17, no. 58, pl. 10).
Decoration:   Black glaze overall with reserved undersurface and resting surface of foot; four sets of three reserved lines at regular intervals on body up to max. diam.; reserved band below handles, with three reserved lines above and below framing black solid double axes alternating with groups of regularly 14 (in one exception 30) black vertical lines; window-panel on either side of neck with three reserved lines above and below enclosing from bottom to top gear pattern, two reserved lines, hatched meander pattern, two reserved lines, gear pattern; black vertical lines in reserved band around rim; black band continues inside rim. Decoration similar, but not identical, to Kerameikos 866 (Coldstream, Greek Geometric Pottery, 1968, pl. 3d).
Material:   Fine very pale brown clay fired pink at core with few medium sub-rounded platy black, few small rounded white inclusions, and rare medium sub-rounded platy voids.
Munsell Color:   Surface: 10YR 7/4 (very pale brown), Core: 7.5YR 8/3 (pink)
Condition:   Complete or intact. Mended from several fragments. Entire vessel preserved, except for chips and fragments missing from body, neck and rim. Glaze partially preserved on one side and almost completely worn off on the other.
